PM-1/PG-4 test load hookup schematic

Hi team,

I’m running some device diagnostics before implant, and I’m wondering how test loads can be connected to the PM-1/PG-4. In this case, my test load is pretty simple, either a resistor or a resistor-capacitor circuit mimicing my stimulation electrodes (ie Randles circuit).

My connections are as follows:
PM1 N1 →network cable → N1 PG4. Normally, I connect an electrode to electrode 1 on the PG4. As I understand it, anode return is the ground on the PM1. How might I connect a test load return to that? Alternatively, if I need the bipolar update for this, how would that wiring go?

Thank you!

Implantable PG4 Module

The module enclosure of the PG4 implanted module is the anode. So to apply the load it might look like PG4 → Lead → Metal bundle at distal end in contact with clip → clip → resistor → clip →

Implanted Module Example

Here is an example that you could consider to be adding a load. This display PG4 module can connect into a PM module or network connection on the benchtop kit to demonstrate stimulation through LEDs. The stimulation path is completed by soldering LEDs to the cathode at the distal end of the lead and then there is a wire soldered to the LED that leads back to make contact with the backside of the PG4, closing the circuit for stimulation output.

Benchtop Kit

There are three different pin options that can be used as the anode on the benchtop kit (original diagram here: Stimulation with the PG4 | COSMIIC Documentation)

Benchtop Kit Example

This picture shows different options for loading the stim output on the PG4 benchtop board. These resistors connect the channel output (through a resistor) to the anode (through a second resistor) in both cases.
